Vastu Shastra-1:An introduction
Posted by varun I 14 July, 2010 archives 6

We have all heard about a specific Vastu Shastra and we understand that it plays a very vital role in our residence/workplace’s construction and architecture.

MARG ProperTies  ensures that all its buildings adher to the rules of Vastu Shastra. Marg blog is coming up with a series of articles to quench your thirst for knowledge about Vastu Shastra. In this first post lets get to know about  the basic what, when and how of Vastu Shastra.

What is Vastu Shastra?          Vastu Shastra

Vastu Shastra is an ancient Hindu practice originating from Vedas used while construction aimed at creating equilibrium between humanity and nature for the well being of the former.

Scientifically we can define Vastu Shastra as the scientific study of direction for usage in construction so as to create harmony between humanity and nature using the five elements of nature.

Origin of Vastu Shastra

Although we can’t define the exact time when Vastu Shastra originated, it dates back to several thousand years ago. It has its origins from Sthapatya Veda which is an integral part of Atharva Veda (One of the ancient four Vedas).

The early principles of Vastu were framed on the basis of observation of the sunrays, at different times in the day. These observations were noted and important inferences drawn later on, on the basis of an in-depth screening.

We can also  find references of Vastu Shastra in the Great Indian Epics Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Vishvakarma Prakash, Samraangan Sutradhar, Kashyap Shilpshastra, Vrihad Sanhita, and Praman Manjaree are some of the ancient Vedic experts who passed over the Vastu knowledge to the next generation.

At MARG we respect the traditional values and believes and we have built all our MARG properties in accordance with Vastu after consultation with Vastu experts. We can never compromise on important aspects such as these when we are building integrated townships like Vishwashakthi at holy places like Tirupathi.

On our next blog we will see about the Vastu Purusha Mandala which defines the rules of Vastu Shastra.
