Imagine living in a home where comfort meets security and luxury is synonymous with technology and automation. Imagine if every gadget and every appliance in the house is controlled centrally, using sensors. Imagine if every movement in the house can be scrutinized using cameras, when you areaway. All you have to do is sit back and relax while Technology takes care of your day to-day-chores.
Although this may sound a bit far-fetched, developers in the city are slowly waking up to smart homes, a concept that integrates modern technology with modern living. It ideally consists of electronic sensors, CCTVs, electronic locks, mood-based lighting, burglar alarms, uniform switch controllers, etc, built into the project.
The flip side to this development, though, is its recurring expenses and maintenance. S Ramakrishnan, CEO, MargProperties, says, “Tech-smart homes are definitely very niche. However, today’s customers are well-informed and well-travelled; their needs are varied and refined.” Marg Properties has developed a smart home project called Savithanjali in Kottivakkam. The project is equipped with cameras, video door phones, sensor lighting, mood
lighting, etc. “We have designed a universal remote that controls all the electronic and electrical devices of the house. Over ten devices can be controlled at a time using this device. Our aim is to let customers programme their home according to their desires, without any hassles, whatsoever,” adds Ramakrishnan
