At the beginning of this festival season MARG planned to bring in a series of sweets and food stuff for pongal celebration. In the below space MARG ProperTies have shared a recipe for “Sweet Pongal”
Ingredients
1 cup Raw Rice
1/2 cup Green Gram Dal
3 Cups Jaggery
4 tbsp Ghee
2 tbsp Cashewnuts
2 tbsp Raisins
5 Nos. Cardamoms
2 1/2 Cups Water
1 Cup Milk
Pinch of nutmeg powder (Optional )
2 Nos Whole Cloves ( Optional )
Method
Roast the green gram dal over a medium fire; evenly roast it till it is light golden brown colour.
Place 21/2 cups of water, 1 cup milk and whole cardamom in a thick bottom pan, close with a lid and bring it over fire. As it is about to boil add rice and roasted green gram dal and close it tightly.
In 3/4 cup of water add the pieces or mashed jaggery and blend it, simmer it at low heat till the jaggery dissolves. Strain the jaggery syrup to remove the impurities. Gently cook the jaggery syrup over medium heat till it reaches slightly sticky consistency.
Heat ghee, initially add cashew nuts and later add dry grapes to fry lightly.
When the rice and green gram dal is 90 percent cooked, add the jaggery syrup complete the cooking.
Bring down from the fire add fried cashew, dry grapes along with ghee. Mix well and serve hot.

In the recent times one of the trendy event organized by MARG, it was ‘Vintage Car Rally’ that exhibited the fame of MARG Swarnabhoomi. Chennai – Pondy heritage car rally was successfully flagged off from VGP Golden Beach on ECR at 08.30 a.m. on 8th January, 2011 with a strategic pit stop at MARG Swarnabhoomi between 10.00 to 10.30 a.m..
Over 30 to 50 vintage cars driven by HNIs took a detour inside MARG Swarnabhoomi campus and stopped by at the entrance for a photo session and refreshments. The entrance to MARG Swarnabhoomi wore a festive look and attracted the attention of curious passersby and local community. As the heritage cars rolled out on ECR to display its pageant, MARG banners welcomed with jingles “We laud the spirit of the golden oldies”.
The enjoyment of this event highlighted the meticulous planning by the Madras Heritage Motoring Club. The Department Of Tourism, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry hosted the participants with entertainment.
