The third edition of the Chennai Marathon scheduled for August 29, 2010 will be on Chennai road in aid of ‘GiveLife Charity’, a trust that affords education for deprived children’s. The theme of the event will have a brand new slogan “My City, My Pride”. The Marathon event will feature two runs – For the run category ‘I love Chennai’ marathon race covering a distance of 7-km, more than one lakh marathon aspirants are likely to connect, and for the run category ‘Half Marathon Race’ also called the ‘National Run’ marathon race covering a distance of 21-km, around 8,000 sprinters are expected to participate. In the midst of these events, a disappointment for this year, it seems that the most acclaimed ‘International Run’ has been withdrawn due to certain constrains and non-feasibility factors. Both runs will be flagged off from Anna square. As part of the marathon race, concurrent events including speech by influential and privileged young students will be organised; workshops for children will be an add-ons. The itinerary of the occasion is intended to encourage citizens to support and sponsor unfortunate children and make them stand tall in the society by giving them ‘Right To Education’
We shall pledge to RUN…..After all it is My City, My Pride….!!
