Here comes a reason for celebration and a sense of pride for the Mozart of Madras, yes A.R.Rahman has done it again by bringing home two bags of GRAMMY last Monday. A.R.Rahman was awarded for the best soundtrack for motion pictures, television or other visual media category for the film Slumdog Millionaire, and in the best song for motion picture, television and other visual media category for “Jai ho”, which gave him the Oscar Award for the year 2009. Slum Dog Millionaire had presented the great singer/musician with two Oscars- a Bafta and a Golden Globe for his outstanding compositions. His achievement did not stop with this; he also won two prestigious GRAMMY awards which recently held in Los Angles which is the 52nd edition of GRAMMY award function.
A.R.Rahman’s award winning “Jai Ho” was heard all over and the city was chanting this mantra few months back with his “Jai Ho” concert which held in MARG Swarnabhoomi and the show was purely dedicated to the most prestigious man of music of our country. Chennai and Pondy are gearing up for the Pudhuvai Marathon 2010, to be held in the town of Pondicherry on Sunday, 14th Feb 2010. As much as 10,000 runners cutting across various professions, age groups and nationalities are expected join and run for the cause of environment.
At the beginning of a new decade, a new year it seems natural to look around and search for the next big thing to come. Here is a huge responsibility as a citizen to take look at global warming. I am sure Copenhagen summit delivered a significant result for the benefit of future generations, business leaders and for governments to think beyond the climate myths. One such initiative to create awareness about global warming, go green clean environment and also to be a part of the campaign to save earth is being organized Pudhavai Marathon 2010 by Marg Swarnabhoomi in collaboration with Rotary Club of Pondicherry Charitable Trust which is happening in Mahatma Gandhi Statue, Pondicherry where all schools and colleges have been invited to participate in this marathon.

Ten years ago, many people thought that there was no climate problem and they were unfortunately wrong. Five years ago, many people thought that we didn’t have the ideas and technologies to lower emissions dramatically and they are wrong again. Now, it is time to kill these two last myths. First, that business isn’t willing to contribute and secondly that we don’t have the decision-making system to reach a new global climate change treaty. We are proud that Marg Swarnabhoomi has taken the great step ahead in contributing to global warming by this Pudhavai Marathon initiative. Many organizations itself kills this first myth. Over the last 2 to 3 years, we have seen many business groups and individual corporations have become more and more outspoken when it comes to environmental regulation. The second myth is a shared responsibility. People always have a notion that the U.N. climate negotiations are too little, too late, and too slow. Now these myths are killed by the overwhelming contribution from organizations and individuals in the country to contribute towards global warming.
If all the critical players show dedication, pragmatism, and true political leadership it will work. Pudhuvai Marathon 2010 gives opportunity for every citizen to participate and be a part of the global cause. Today’s stress buster for many people is any kind of physical activity like playing any kind of sport or working out in gym. Mostly people prefer cricket as an option because in the process they enjoy what they are doing by learning the trick of success and failure. Cricket is an outdoor game played in any kind of open area which is spacious to accommodate the players and the audience. Nowadays many organizations choose cricket as a stress-buster which will also build a healthy platform between two different organizations and they get to know each other better. On the other hand it builds a healthy competition between the organizations to perform better each time. A cricket match held recently between Marg ProperTies and Lancor Housing in Chennai on 26th January 2010 which is a debut match for MARG ProperTies.
MARG always has a wonderful inbuilt team which brings rewards to the organization by participating in various multi-faceted activities. Marg is being successful in all its missions and they have proved this once again in their first Cricket Match against Lancor Housing. The team even had good wicket takers with players like Sathish CS Ranjit Sankar, Sabu George and Jaison. The team had good cheering support from their motivating colleagues on that day and it landed up to be a perfect entertainer and a good gathering for all of them on a holiday. I am sure through this cricket match MARG has found some good sportsmen in their team and looking forward to encourage their talents through various other activities like this in future. Alamparai fort is a 17th Century Fort located in between Mahabalipuram and Pondichery, off East Coast Road (ECR). The good thing is, this fort is just 10-12 kms from Marg SwarnaBhoomi.
Alamparai fort and backwaters are really scenic and is an ideal place to spend an evening with your loved ones. Alamparai is fairly isoladed and not over crowded like other tourist destinations around ECR. Below photos show you the beauty of this fort. Make it a point to visit Alamparai during your next visit.
History:
The fort was built in the 17th century by the Mughals. Since then, it has withstood the test of time and carries momories of over 4 centuries.
Local fisherman offer rides on their boats, of course for a fee (About 300 Rs for a ride, negotiable). With no life jackets there is a risk element to it, however backwater is not so deep for any real threat. A swim in the backwater will also be very refreshing and relaxing.
Though Alamparai is little far from Chennai city for a quick visit, it is very close to Pondy and Marg Swarnabhoomi project.
